Different forms of Motorsport in Australia specify different racewear, some request SFI and other forms require FIA.
General rule of thumb - Most USA derived forms of racing (Speedway, Drag, Off road racing, etc) will accept SFI approved racegear.
Most tarmac events & national/international rallies will request FIA 8856-2000 approved racewear. Then there is the middle ground with some events recommending but not specifiying racewear, in that case either SFI/FIA would be preferred over not wearing any fire retardant driving gear.
